Giorgos Samaras Calls It a Career at 33 [Photos & Videos]

Giorgos Samaras, famed Greek striker, calls it a career at 33. He spent the majority of his club career in Scotland playing for Celtic, and played 482 matched with Greece, including Euro Cup 2008, 2012 and World Cup 2010, 2014.

His most famous moment for Greece was scoring a penalty in the 90+3′ of the final group stage match in World Cup 2014 versus Ivory Coast, to allow Greece to advance to the elimination round.

Samras is also remembered for making a special friend in young Celtic fan, Jay. Jay has down syndrome and idolized Samaras, so the Greek player made sure to find him after a match and bring him on the field. A special friendship developed afterwards.
