[Photos] Mass Shooting in Toronto’s GreekTown Overshadowed by Greece Fires

On July 22, a madman went on a shooting rampage in Toronto’s GreekTown, aka Danforth. Because of the fires in Greece, it hasn’t received much attention, so I want to make sure and shed some light on it.

Two people were killed, 10-year-old Julianna Kozis and 18-year-old Reese Fallon, and 17 others injured. Lots of heroic stories of civilians helping one another, including the story of 31-year-old nursing student, Danielle Kane, who is currently sedated in intensive care and may never walk again. She was dining in a nearby restaurant and was shot after rushing to the aid of the victims when she realized what was going on. A lot of the workers in the various Greek restaurants also rushed out to help those who were injured. The shooter is dead after an exchange of gunfire with police.

There was a vigil for the victims on Wednesday, July 25, and here are some photos and a video of that event below.

If you’d like to support the victims, you can visit Greek Freak Nation, a Greek clothing line based in Toronto. They are selling “Danforth Strong” shorts (below) and all proceeds will benefit the victims of the shooting.
