[Photo] Flashback: First Olympic Torch Relay in 1936

1936, the year of the first Olympic Torch Relay. Here in Olympia, eleven women, representing the Vestal Virgins, perform a ceremony at the Temple of Hera in which the first torch of the first relay, ever, was ignited by using mirrors to concentrate the beans of the sun. The torch would then begin it’s route to Berlin, the host city for the 1936 Olympics. 👌🇬🇷
